Ethiopia has big medaling day at World Athletics Championships: Medals table after Day 4
By Nik Streng | The Oregonian/OregonLive

While Team USA still leads the total medal count in the World Athletics Championships, Ethiopia had a big Monday performance.

Ethiopia took home the gold in the only medaling event of the morning session, as Gotytom Gebreslase won the women’s marathon. In total, Ethiopia had three medalists on Monday.

In the afternoon session, Mutaz Essa Barshim of Qatar won his third world championship in the high jump. Venezuela’s Yulimar Rojas won the top medal in the women’s triple jump. Morocco’s Soufiane El Bakkali followed up his Tokyo Olympic medal with a world title in the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase. All three were the first medals for their respective countries.

In the women’s 1,500 meters, Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon reclaimed her gold after taking silver at the 2019 event.

Here’s a complete look at the Oregon22 medals table, as well as a look at who won medals in individual events on the first day of competition.
